The route

The Core, Without the Long Steam

Four days and three nights stays inside the sheltered core around Boo and Fiabacet, where the walls are thick with soft coral and the current is manageable. It does not reach Magic Mountain or the eastern pinnacles — those need the longer route. What it does give you is the reef Misool is known for, on a boat private to your group, in the time most people can actually take off.

The Three Days

Sites are chosen each morning against the tide, so the order below is the plan rather than a promise.

Day 1 1 dive · max 18 m

Sorong, boarding and check dive

Fly into Sorong (SOQ), transfer to the harbour and board. Gear check, briefing, and a gentle first dive over hard-coral gardens to settle buoyancy before the current sites.

Day 2 3 dives · 20-30 m

Boo Windows and Fiabacet

The full day on the core sites. The twin swim-throughs at about 5 m, then soft-coral walls with fusiliers and barracuda. Fiabacet in the afternoon — walls, slopes and pinnacles, walking sharks in the shallows.

Day 3 2 dives · max 15 m

Last dive and departure

Two shallow dives kept inside 15 m for the light and the colour, then brunch as the boat runs back towards Sorong. Airport transfer arranged.

Day 1 1 dive · max 18 m

Sorong, boarding and check dive

Fly into Sorong (SOQ), transfer to the harbour and board. Gear check, briefing, and a gentle first dive over hard-coral gardens to settle buoyancy before the current sites.

Day 2 3 dives · 20-30 m

Day 3 2 dives · max 15 m

Last dive and departure

Two shallow dives kept inside 15 m for the light and the colour, then brunch as the boat runs back towards Sorong. Airport transfer arranged.

Three days is tight. If you can add two more, the five-day route reaches Magic Mountain — and that is the dive most people come for.

Certification and experience

Advanced Open Water or equivalent with at least 50 logged dives. The core sites are the gentlest in Misool, but they still run current.

When to come

October through April is the prime window. On a three-day trip the weather matters more than it does on seven — there is no spare day to wait one out.
