Misool sits in the far south of Raja Ampat, a constellation of more than 1,500 karst islands at the centre of the Coral Triangle.
The reserve has been a no-take zone since 2005, patrolled by rangers from the local community. The result is a reef running at full capacity: walls of Dendronephthya soft coral, resident oceanic and reef mantas at the same cleaning stations, and a fish biomass that measured 250% higher after a single decade of protection.

An Island Base and Your Own Speedboat
You sleep on land and travel by private speedboat — not a shared boat, and not a room. Three nights in Raja Ampat plus a night in Sorong either side of the flights. Rooms are twin-share, and the trip runs for your group alone from two people up to twelve.

October through April, when the seas are calmest and visibility is at its best — often 25 to 40 metres. Water sits at 28-30°C all year. May to September brings stronger winds, but the diving stays excellent, and manta activity peaks between December and February.
Logistics
Getting to Misool
Misool has no airport. Every trip starts and ends in Sorong, and the hotel night there is already in the package.

On to Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ), Sorong. Book it yourself; we advise on the timings that connect.

We meet you at arrivals. A night at Aston Sorong is in the package, then the speedboat run south to Misool in the mornight.
