What makes Misool exceptional is exactly what makes it hard to get to. It sits in the far south of Raja Ampat, two flights and a sea crossing from anywhere, inside a no-take zone that has been patrolled since 2005 — and the reef shows it. Nowhere else in Indonesia combines that coral density with that few boats on the sites. But remoteness costs money and days, and if you have neither to spare, there are better answers.
