The route

The Short Way to the Good Sites

Five days is the shortest route that still reaches Magic Mountain without rushing it. The trip opens on the sheltered reefs, spends day two in the soft-coral core around Boo, takes day three into the Farondi caverns with an afternoon in the karst lagoons, then gives day four entirely to the pelagic sites. Day five is shallow and unhurried before the overnight run back to Sorong.

Day by day

The Five Days

Sites are chosen each morning against the tide, so the order below is the plan rather than a promise.

Day 1 1 dive · max 18 m

Sorong and the run south

Fly into Sorong (SOQ), transfer to the harbour and board. The cruise south runs four to six hours. A gentle first dive to 18 m — reef sharks along the edge, bumphead parrotfish on the coral, visibility past 20 m.

Day 2 3 dives · 25-30 m

Boo Windows and the soft-coral core

The twin swim-throughs, then walls draped in soft coral fed by the current. Barracuda and trevally patrol the deeper sections. Long dives — 60 to 70 minutes in water this warm.

Day 3 2 dives + surface

Goa Farondi and the lagoons

A morning through the Farondi cave complex — chambers, swim-throughs and light shafts through the rock. Bring a torch. The afternoon is above water, paddling the karst lagoons with hornbills overhead.

Magic Mountain and Fiabacet

The seamount at its best on a running tide, oceanic and reef mantas over the cleaning station. Fiabacet in the afternoon: walls, slopes and pinnacles at 20-25 m, with walking sharks in the shallows.

Day 5 2 dives · max 15 m

Last dives and departure

Shallow and unhurried — Jamur Boo and its mushroom bommies, kept inside 15 m for the light. Then the overnight run back to Sorong, arriving early for onward flights.

Dive counts are typical. The guides read conditions daily and will move or drop a dive rather than put the group somewhere the current does not suit them.
