Resort or Liveaboard in Misool

We run the resort-based version: an island base and your own speedboat. A liveaboard keeps you at sea. Neither is better — they answer different questions, and this page says plainly which one we sell.

The real question

A Base and a Boat, or a Boat That Is the Base

A liveaboard makes the boat your bed, which buys range and costs you stable ground. What we run is the other shape: you sleep at Lalelka or Panun and run out each morning on a speedboat that belongs to your group for the trip. You come back to the same room, the same shower and a floor that does not move, and you still cover fifteen destinations across four or five days. The trade is real — a liveaboard can sit overnight beside a distant site and we cannot — and it is set out row by row below.

Side by side

Six Points of Difference

The left column is the trip we actually sell. The right is a scheduled liveaboard, described as fairly as we can manage given we do not run one.

  • Where you sleep

    Our private resort trip

Lalelka or Panun Resort, one room per two people, plus a night at Aston Sorong either side of the flights.

    Scheduled liveaboard

A room on the boat for the whole trip. You wake wherever the boat moved to overnight.

  • How you reach the sites

    Our private resort trip

A speedboat — Your Pesona or New Pesona — private to your group, out and back each day.

    Scheduled liveaboard

The vessel carries you between sites, often overnight, so you surface where you woke up.

  • Site access

    Our private resort trip

Fifteen destinations across the route, day-boat range from the base.

    Scheduled liveaboard

Wider. Overnight passages reach outer sites that no day boat can work comfortably.

  • Privacy

    Our private resort trip

The whole trip is yours, from two people up to twelve. Nobody else joins.

    Scheduled liveaboard

Usually shared with strangers on a fixed schedule, unless you take the entire boat.

  • Sea motion

    Our private resort trip

On the water by day, on solid ground every night. This is the reason most people choose it.

    Scheduled liveaboard

Constant. Manageable for most, genuinely hard for some, and there is no getting off.

  • Non-divers in the group

    Our private resort trip

They work. Beaches, villages, the resort itself, and a boat that can drop them and come back.

    Scheduled liveaboard

Difficult. The day is built around the dive schedule and there is nowhere else to be.

  • Time it asks of you

    Our private resort trip

Four days and three nights, or five and four. It fits inside a normal week off.

    Scheduled liveaboard

Seven to ten nights is typical, plus travel either end.

  • What it starts at

    Our private resort trip

From USD 1,100 per person at the twelve-person tier, including meals, transfers and photo coverage.

    Scheduled liveaboard

Quoted per berth or per boat by the operator; we do not publish a figure we did not set.

The left column describes this operation specifically, with figures from our own published rates. The right describes a scheduled liveaboard in general terms; we do not run one, so no price is quoted there rather than an invented one.

Deciding

Three Questions That Settle It

Answer these honestly and the choice usually makes itself.

Is everyone diving?

If one of your party does not dive, our version is almost always the better trip for them. There is a beach, a village, a room to retreat to, and a boat that can drop them and come back.

Build your own

Which sites do you actually want?

If a specific outer pinnacle is the whole reason you are coming, a liveaboard that can sit beside it overnight will serve you better than any day boat. Tell us the site and we will say so plainly.

The dive sites

How do you handle motion?

Ours is a speedboat by day and solid ground by night, which is the deciding factor for a lot of people. If seasickness is a known problem, this is the shape that solves it.

Three Routes to Look At

Every one of them is private, and every one can be redrawn around your group.
